The Additive Manufacturing Laboratory (AMLab) is a cooperation between the Fraunhofer Institute for Casting, Composite and Processing Technology IGCV and the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management (iwb), Technical University Munich. The AMLab was founded in 2012 by Fraunhofer IGCV and iwb to share equipment and inspection technology and conduct joint research on various processes, e.g., Laser-Based Powder Bed Fusion of Metals or Arc-based Directed Energy Deposition. Experimental and analytical investigations help to increase the knowledge of these processes and to expand the range of applications with innovative ideas. The Additive Manufacturing Laboratory takes into account both pre-, in-, and post-process.

Possible forms of cooperation

Bilateral industrial projects:
Short- to medium-term research for industrial clients on an individual contract basis.

Publicly funded projects:
Medium- and long-term projects between research and industry partners.

Industrial collaborations:
Long-term projects for finding solutions together in a low-competition environment.
